Agreement with the Community of Montes de Tameiga on Afouteza-GS360

One of the core principles guiding the current board of directors is both clear and powerful: “A Celta for everyone, by everyone.” From day one, club president Marián Mouriño has prioritized achieving social harmony, and RC Celta has made great strides in this direction over the past few months.

The effort to normalize and improve relationships with institutions, organizations, and fans has been successful. However, there was one stubborn challenge left to tackle: a long-standing conflict that seemed impossible to resolve. But thanks to the determination of all parties involved, it’s finally over—RC Celta and the Community of Montes de Tameiga have reached an agreement, bringing an end to a bitter dispute that benefited no one.

The club is delighted with this agreement, which not only puts an end to a seemingly unresolvable issue but also ensures the smooth progression of a project that is critical to the future of both the club and Galician sports: Cidade Deportiva Afouteza-GS360. RC Celta is also deeply grateful to the Community of Montes de Tameiga for their willingness to close this chapter and move forward together.

To achieve this important agreement, RC Celta restructured its plans without compromising the core facilities, ensuring that the project remained within the framework of the Declaration of Autonomous Interest (DIA) while avoiding delays. These efforts resulted in over 80% of the Community of Montes de Tameiga’s land being freed from any impact by the development. At the same time, the project maintains nearly all of the originally planned facilities, including spaces for academy teams, a mini-stadium for the reserve team and As Celtas, as well as other features outlined in the GS360 initiative.

The restructured plan also improves the project’s integration with the surrounding environment by significantly reducing its footprint on communal lands. Additionally, the club has committed to fully protecting Tameiga’s historic water supplies, as it previously did with the Pereiras community’s water sources.

This milestone agreement also includes the future expropriation price for the affected land, ensuring there are no unresolved points of contention that could lead to further disputes.

In return, the Community of Montes de Tameiga has agreed to withdraw all ongoing legal actions and refrain from filing any new ones, enabling the smooth progress of the GS360 project.

RC Celta is now awaiting final approval of the PIA (Project of Autonomous Interest), expected in the coming weeks, so construction on Phase II of the GS360 project can begin immediately. This phase will include a mini-stadium, five new training fields for youth and cadet teams, a Training Center offering academic programs in health and sports, a residence for academy players and students, a dining area for visitors, and a hotel for athletes and participants in cultural and academic events. The project will also feature state-of-the-art facilities for sports clinics and innovation in sports technology.

This agreement strikes a perfect balance, protecting the land and water resources cherished by the community while allowing RC Celta to grow and thrive. It marks a major step forward for the club, achieving full social harmony and ensuring the project’s unanimous support. Moreover, it highlights RC Celta’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability, which has been a cornerstone in the design of Cidade Deportiva Afouteza-GS360. This is truly a project for everyone, with a universal vision and undeniable public benefit.
