Telefónica will be the preferred technology partner of the Real Club Celta in the strategic project Galicia Sports 360 Factoría do Deporte Galego. With this project, the sports entity aims to lead the digital transformation of the sports industry in Galicia, having been designated by the Xunta de Galicia as a project of regional interest on November 10th.
As the Club’s digital partner in the project, the Company will have a privileged position compared to other sector operators to cover the technological needs in infrastructure, digital services, equipment or innovation methodologies that will be provided to the facilities of the projected complex -Cidade Deportiva Afouteza, Hub del Deporte Gallego, High-Performance and Technological Innovation Centers of Sport, Training Center (Master postgraduate, specialization, Professional Training)…- and its professionals.
RC Celta’s goal is to adapt to the new challenges and ways of understanding sports that the digital economy and society are driving. These challenges include the management of teams with digital customers, the digitalization of clubs, and the increase in revenue through Digital Business, to become more competitive. Therefore, they believe that Telefónica is the ideal technology partner to undertake this challenge. For its part, Telefónica considers this project strategic, and as a Company, it faces this beginning of collaboration with high expectations, convinced that it can contribute all its technological potential and innovation capacity to make Galicia Sports 360 a reference project in the field of sportech.
The alliance was ratified today during a meeting held at Telefónica’s headquarters in Madrid between the Management of Telefónica España -Adrián García Nevado, Javier Vizcaíno Toscano, and Santiago Tripero Oter-, and the president of RC Celta, Carlos Mouriño, the CEO of Galicia Sports 360, Marián Mouriño, and Carlos Cao, director of the Business Area of RC Celta, where the framework collaboration agreement was signed.
Galicia Sports 360 is the most relevant and ambitious project in RC Celta’s history. It will have an investment of around more than 120 million euros and a total area of 300,000 square meters in MOS – 75,000 of built-up area including a multi-purpose Arena of up to 10,000 spectators or a Mini Stadium of up to 4,000 spectators – which will cover different lines of work related to sports: research and health, innovation and training, leisure and multi-sports or football and youth academy, among others.
